Hey there folks!
I’m just stopping in to give you a quick update.
Life has been… a bit all over the place the last couple weeks.
I finally held a copy of my debut novel in my hands. It was incredible. In general, writing is an intangible thing. It’s words on a screen. You work for months, years really. And you have nothing but a white screen and black letters to show for it.
Until you hold the print copy in your hand. And now I have and it’s real.
Which is… amazing and terrifying. ARC reviews have been even more wonderful than I expected and that is so, so exciting.
My fluffy editor is less than impressed with my shameless use of her adorable face for marketing purposes.
My writing is going… alright.
I’ve got Book 3, Winning my Wife with beta readers and I’ve received positive feedback which is wonderful.
Book 2, The Baker and the Bookmaker is currently with my editor and currently on track for ARCs to be released in August.
I’m currently drafting Book 6, and finally arrived on a title, A Properly Conducted Sham. I’m plugging along. I’m currently considering slashing an entire point of view, but I’m not confident in that choice.
And then there is my real life. Which is… shit. In 2021, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. After a massive surgery (she’s out of non-vital organs) and chemo, she was declared cancer free. But… as cancer is want to do, it has returned.
And it is unbearably shitty. She’s been in and out of the hospital for the last two weeks. She’s currently in with sepsis which is obviously also shit.
So today, my mother held a book dedicated to her which was amazing. But she had to do it in a hospital bed. Which as I’ve said before… is shitty.
And so that is the update. At this point, the earth continues to spin and revolve around the sun and I continue to write most days. But that is… subject to change.
Reading is something that I’ve shared with my mom for as long as I can remember. And my love of historical romances comes from her.
So, life is a roller coaster and I’m just buckled in for the ride. At this time, I don’t see my publishing schedule being impacted by current events. And cancer is the worst.
